Fixed Braces

Fixed braces, also known as traditional braces or metal braces, are a type of orthodontic treatment used to straighten and align teeth.
They consist of metal brackets and wires that are attached to the teeth using dental cement. The brackets are connected by a wire that applies tension to the teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position over time. The braces are called “fixed” because they are not removable.

Initial consultation

The orthodontist will examine your teeth and take X-rays to determine if you are a good candidate for fixed braces. They will also discuss your treatment options and explain the process to you.

Placement of braces

The orthodontist will place brackets on your teeth and attach them with dental cement. The brackets are connected with a wire that applies tension to your teeth,.

Removable braces, also known as Invisalign, are a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to straighten and align the teeth.
The aligners are made of a clear, medical-grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn. They are worn for about 22 hours a day and replaced every two weeks with a new set of aligners that will continue to move the teeth into the desired position.

Initial consultation

The orthodontist will examine your teeth and take X-rays to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign.

Digital scans

The orthodontist will take impressions or digital scans of your teeth to create a detailed map of your dental structure.

The retainer is custom-made to fit the patient’s mouth and is typically worn at night or as directed by the orthodontist. The retainer is removable and can be taken out for eating, brushing, and flossing.

Orthodontic treatment

The orthodontist will remove the braces or aligners and will take an impression or digital scan of your teeth to create a custom-made retainer.

Follow-up visits

The orthodontist will schedule regular follow-up visits to check the fit and position of the retainer and to make any necessary adjustments.

Functional Appliances

Functional appliances in dentistry are devices worn in the mouth to correct bite problems or jaw growth issues in children and teenagers.
They work by applying gentle forces to the jaws and teeth, which helps to guide their growth and development. Examples of functional appliances include the Herbst appliance and the Twin Block appliance.

Consultation

Fitting

It is typically worn outside of the mouth, and works by applying gentle forces to the jaws and teeth. Headgear can be used to correct overbites, underbites, and to help guide the growth of the upper jaw in cases where it is underdeveloped.

Consultation

Fabrication

If headgear is recommended, the orthodontist will take impressions of the patient's teeth and jaw, which will be used to custom-fabricate the headgear.
